Paul J. Carroll is the Director of Music at St. Louis Church, Clarksville, Maryland. He holds Master and Bachelor of Music degrees in Organ from the Peabody Conservatory of Johns Hopkins University where he studied with Donald Sutherland from 2000-2005. As a keyboardist, Mr. Carroll has performed as a soloist, an accompanist, and with orchestras in the United States, Italy, Russia, Germany, Austria, Spain and Israel as an organist, pianist, and harpsichordist. Mr. Carroll is currently pursuing doctoral studies in Sacred Music at the Catholic University of America in Washington, DC.

While a student at Peabody, Mr. Carroll made his European solo debut in Italy in 2001 at the Assisi Music Festival. Returning to Italy multiple times since Mr. Carroll has performed in various locations including the Basilica di Santa Maria degli Angeli near Assisi, Italy and St. Ignatius in Rome. During his time in Italy, Mr. Carroll serves as an accompanist, coach, and conductor for the Assisi Music Festival. In addition he has performed in such venues as the Glinka Center for Arts and Culture in Moscow, Russia and the Kunstuniversität in Graz, Austria.

At age 15, Paul Carroll took his first position at church in his native Lansdale, PA. Soon after, he served first as Organist and later as Music Coordinator for Youth Ministry at Corpus Christi Church in Upper Gwynedd, Pennsylvania. While studying at Peabody Conservatory, Mr. Carroll held positions of Organist at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Odenton, Maryland and Organist for Spanish Liturgy at the Cathedral of St. Matthew the Apostle in Washington, D.C. As a church musician, Mr. Carroll has played in St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican, Martinskircke in Oberlennigen, Germany, and the Church of Saint Bartholomew in Seville, Spain. From 2002-2007, Paul Carroll was the Director of Music Ministry at St. Clement Church in Lansdowne, Maryland.

In April 2003, Mr. Carroll won first place in the Washington, D.C. Chapter Competition of the American Guild of Organists (AGO). In October 2005, he was a finalist in the Marcello Galanti International Organ Competition in Mondaino, Italy.

Mr. Carroll supports many different types of music. He first emphasizes the works of seminal French Romantic Composers such as Charles-Marie Widor and Louis Vierne. In addition, he feels at home with the favorites of the standard repertoire - such as the immortal J.S. Bach – and works of the Classical French style. Also of great importance is the development and creation of new music. Mr. Carroll has performed the works of contemporary musicians such as Czech composer Petr Eben, Italian composers Damiano Rota and Francesco Santelli, and most recently, Russian composer Mikhail Tariverdiev (Mиказл Таривердиев).

As he explores various other avenues of musical performance, Mr. Carroll has performed and directed many Broadway musicals. He has performed at a variety of venues including Toby's Dinner Theater in Maryland as well as the Bristol Riverside Theater in Pennsylvania.

Mr. Carroll is a member of the American Guild of Organists and is Past Dean of the Baltimore Chapter. In addition, he was the Chair for Publicity of the 2007 Baltimore Regional Convention of the AGO. Baltimore AGO information is available at www.baltimoreago.org.
