Assisi Pilgrimage Choir

Now calling all vocalists to join the Assisi Pilgrimage Choir in the Summer of 2009.

The Choir

Designed to be a truly international experience with singers from all over the world, the choir will perform a major concert at the Basilica of Santa Maria degli Angeli famous for its relation to St. Francis of Assisi. The Basilica was built over the Porziuncola, an 11th Century Church important to St. Francis and the Franciscan Order. In addition, the choir will perform two a cappella concerts - one in Assisi and one in Rome.

The Music

2009 is the 200th year since the birth of Felix Mendelssohn, the 200th year since the death of Franz Joseph Haydn, and the 250th year since the death of Handel. To honor these three composers, the choir will sing choruses from their large oratorios for the major choral concert. In addition the choir will perform works from the 1500s to the present in the a cappella programs and Masses.
