St. Louis Music Ministry

The Liturgy is at the heart of the Catholic Church, the Body of Christ. The Music Ministry works to help breathe life into that Liturgy. Opportunities abound for all ages, experiences, and talents. For more information on any of the following opportunities, please contact St. Louis Director of Music, Paul Carroll, or call at 410-531-6040.

Cantor – The cantor leads the congregation in song at each Mass. Many current cantors are also members of a choir. For those who have never cantored before, participating in choir helps to build both singing ability and confidence.

Choir – The St. Louis Choir sings at the 11:15am Mass each Sunday from September through early June. Rehearsals are on Thursday evenings from 8:00pm-9:30pm in the church. In addition, there are a few extra rehearsals just before Christmas and Easter. Contact Paul Carroll for more information.

Folk Group – The Folk Group consists of men, women, boys, and girls, who can sing or play the guitar and want to praise God using these gifts in service at the liturgy. Other musical instruments are also used. The Folk Group ministers weekly on Sunday mornings at the 9:30am Mass; practice follows the Mass. The leader of the Folk Group is Leo Rudegeair. For more information, call Leo at 410-531-6314.

Instrumentalists – St. Louis is blessed with an abundance of instrumentalists who play for a variety of different Masses throughout the year. Do you play an instrument? Contact Paul Carroll for more information on playing at St. Louis.

Taizé – On the first Wednesday of each month from 7:30pm - 9:00pm there is the opportunity for Eucharistic Adoration at St. Louis in the style of the Taizé Community - Burgundy, France. Click here for musical examples from the Taizé Community. A small group of singers provides music for these evenings.

Youth Band – The High School Youth Band sings at the 9:30am Mass on the 4th Sunday of the month from September through May and currently includes singers, piano, flute, and violin. Are you in 9th-12th grade? Would you like to sing or play? Contact Paul Carroll for more information.
